On my desk: a very lazy post

There nothing quite so lazy as copying someone else's great idea... but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? So this is a post about some completely random stuff that I look at all day long. Warning: this is boring. But then, isn't most of what's on the internet a decided waste of time?

Eight completely irrelevant items [bar item #2] that clutter up my desk:

1. An empty glass of water. I figure I drink about 4-5 litres of water a day. And then go to the toilet a lot. That glass is a reminder I need to go refill my one litre water bottle and sit it back on my desk.

2. A photo of my Dad and I when I was a baby. It is square and yellow with age. In it, we are both smiling and squinting from the sun, sitting in the water at Hat Head, a beach we used to visit in Christmas holidays. My mum gave it to me recently.

3. An empty wrapper from a Picnic chocolate bar. Ok, I'm supposed to be on a diet but az is away and so there's no one looking over my shoulder. Ha!

4. A bag of glitter stars. They've been there for god knows how long and serve no purpose whatsoever.

5. A $200 gift voucher for a designer baby store that I won in a random competition. I haven't used it yet because I don't like any of their clothes. Clearly I should not have won that prize. But I hate the whole 'sophisticated' clothing range whereby tiny children are dressed as mini versions of trendy adults. They've got their whole lives to dress with sophistication. Now's the time when Maya can wear a yellow t-shirt with red shorts and purple shoes and look absolutely adorable and fantastic. C'mon, they're fricking toddlers!

6. My watch that needs it's battery replaced. But I don't know where to do this. I asked Jenny to take it somewhere six months ago, she did and it worked for a week then stopped again. It's a little too late to demand my money back. So the watch will probably sit there on my desk until I return to Australia and fix it at an authentic watch battery shop (Mr Minit). Meanwhile, I never know what time it is.

7. Part of the power point that Maya dismantled from the wall. I've since covered the actual power point with duct tape which she's also lost interest in removing, so electrocution is not a problem. From that power point. There's only about fifty all over the house.

8. All manner of items I've put up here to keep out of Maya's reach - cough lozenges (though she's already swallowed a few with no dire consequences), several pens, a tube of voltaren and a pink highlighter - both of which she enjoys eating, my camera battery, and piece of ribbon. I don't know why that last item needs saving, excuse me while I drop it back on the floor.

Over and out.

Yours is better than mine, anyway!

I think that bottle of scotch has great potential. I definitely need some booze on my desk.
